New York! Day three… ~*

Good evening friend’s! Yesterday was eventful and challenging at the same time! My first adventure took me to madame tussauds, the wax statue parlour of gloriness! On of my favourite YouTube hosts was nowhere to be seen – specifically Jenna Marbles. Ed Sheeran also was nowhere to be seen. .. but no worries! There were so many others that I never had a hard time fan-girling over! Check it out…

Guy’s, there are so many I could show you but then I would not be able to show you the rest! Just know that this place is worth a visit for those who are interested and book online so that you do not pay  $10-20 extra at the door.

My next adventure, the second half of the ticket, was to go on a sight seeing boat cruise!  We went up the Hudson river, to the 9/11 memorial, to the Brooklyn bridge and finally finishing off passing by the statue of liberty. I would definitely recommend the joint ticket for a guaranteed epic time…

Friend’s. .. I present,  the 9/11 memorial. .. I took only three photographs because I felt like if I took any more, especially selfies, the disrespect would be unreal.

The slabs aroundthe memorial have the names of everyone who lost their lives that day… and as I was walking around,  I noticed flowers on some of them.  These flowers symbolised the birthdays of those who would have been celebrating that day if they were still around…

The gap where the twin towers stood was never filled…

Moving on to the Brooklyn bridge and I think this was the best photo I took… the Manhatten one is directly behind it…

And finally. Lady liberty, as she stands …

After the boat cruise I headed to Carlos’s bakery – known by the show ‘Cake Boss.’ It was a little pricey but heck, the stuff was good…

Just a sample of some casual cakes on offer!

To end my night with a bang, there was only one place I could go…

In all its glory…

Now I forget the name of this epic concoction, it did begin with a K though… the food for sure was a little steep, bit if you want great music and more than welcoming staff, this is the place to be! Times Square was where madame tussauds and hard rock cafe were and the boat was on pier… 78? I think.

Anyways, that’s all for now… goodnight my friend’s!  ~*

New York. .. Day two ~*

Good evening friend’s! Yesterday, I fell even more in love with the city known as the ‘Big Apple. ‘ In the morning, I woke up to the calm sound of the air conditioning after the most perfect sleep on a very comfortable mattress. I have to say that this hostel is wowing me over a lot more than the one in Boston but it is all about the experience!

For breakfast, there were two other people in the bunk and so we went down together and ate as kind of a bunk family where I learned that one of them worked in a summer camp in Maine – like me! And the other was a paramedic on vacation… wow.

After breakfast, I went and did my own thing, which was to go and see the natural museum of American history, where I found manny, cid and deago from ice age as well as dinosaurs and other epic thing’s,  check it out!

Oh yeah! So my ticket let me into one special exhibit and because I love dinosaurs, it had to be the dinosaur one. It was all about how dinosaurs never really did die and how birds like pigeons etc. Have dino genes and stuff in them -super interesting stuff.

Anyways, here is cid the sloth…

Deago, the sabertooth – excuse my spelling. ..

And finally, manny the mammoth, all can be found in the ice age movie as well as the natural museum of American history!

Now onto the ‘Night at the museum’ movie… I would show you everything but that would take away the surprise for you if you came to the big apple…

Introducing the easter island head!

And as he is known in the film; Teddy!

My friend’s,  I spent roughly four hours in this place… it is so worth a visit! Next on my agenda was the one and only, Empire State Building!

So my dream of going up this magnificent building stemmed from the film ‘Sleepless in Seatle’ – again, excuse my spelling. Check it out…

One more  thing!  So, it is not like the movie where you get a lift/elevator to yourself, there are roughly ten people crammed into one. A part from that though, you should be fine.

Goodnight! ~*

New York! Day 1… ~*

Good evening friend’s!  Today I will guide you through my travel experience to the ‘Big Apple!’ Yesterday…

My friend’s. .. for those who do not drink coffee or tea, you have my true sympathies. Moving my stuff outta the hostel in Boston and getting to where I needed to be to get the bus with no caffeine. .. you just do not want to know. I am pretty sure I made someone’s day just byet being a zombie and protesting whenever my rucksack did not want to do what I told it to.

Anyways,  without further ado, I made it onto the right bus – for once and headed on my merry way! Here are some photos from the journey…

I apologise, the photos that I took were not great quality but at least ya’ll seen what I was looking at and that’s the main thing. .. as for the next two photos,  the greyhound bus driver was super kind and took a photo of me behind the wheel and just by the logo! – I was super excited and asked if he wanted to be in a photo but he politely declined.

At around 5 or just after, I stepped into the HI NYC Hostel. At first, I was a little overwhelmed but once I got into my dorm and settled with my bed, everything was all good. Speaking of which,  here are some photos of my dorm for ya!

Here is my little private bit -which I loooove

We each got lockers -heads up, you have to buy the locks here but you can keep them when you leave.

We even got a mirror!  A first for me! I am very happy with this hostel!

Until tomorrow!  ~*

Boston… the last day ~*

Good afternoon friend’s!  Alas, today I make my way to New York but for now I shall talk to ya’ll about my last full day in Boston – the best day in my opinion!

So my friend’s. .. I slept in, true story. By the time I woke up,  my friend was out already and so I took the initiative to get outta bed and find somewhere I could get a nice cup of tea and a small breakfast.  Google maps helped me find a really cute and cozy place called the thinking cup. I had a cup of tea and a cinnamon cream cheese bagel, nom, nom, nom…

Below is the table I sat at which, shows a comic strip from the past apparently as well as the other two which were taken in the toilet. It was such a nice place, oh! It can be found on hanover Street before I forget.

Next,  since I love aquariums, that’s where I ended up! Even though I was older than most of the people in that place, I had a great time!

Penguins!

A statue of a seal!

A real seal!

I forget what these jellyfish are called but they were cute!

More jellyfish!

And finally!  Check out this dude. ..

OK,  so I have a lot more photo’s but there’s so much I want to show you! I met back up with my friend in the afternoon in another thinking cup where I had an iced coffee… we decided to go for a walk and ended up at the… Paul revere bank? Maybe it was the Charlestown river bank… anyways it was beautiful!

Last but not least, we went to the Bunker Hill Monument. .. yes we climbed up the 299 stairs – possibly had a heart attack on the way up but we made it!

Here is the view from the top of this building my friend’s. ..

And finally… I thought I would put this photo of the compact staircase in the mix to, this kind of thing terrifies me but at least I was not alone…

That night I said goodbye to the most amazing friend I made at camp and travelled with for that short time, Fili. Good luck in Baltimore! – Anyways, I was meant to upload this earlier since now I am in new York but no worries!

Goodnight my friend’s!  ~*

Boston. .. day two ~*

Good evening friend’s! Yesterday was so much fun!  Yes, I still felt a little overwhelmed by everything. .. but I believe I started to get a feeling of what Boston was like…

Again, it was a fun packed day with everyone! At first we went to the MIT – The Massachusetts centre of Technology. .. which was friggin’ huge!

Then,  we went to Harvard -which I really enjoyed!

Unfortunately I never took more photo’s,  but hey ho, I had a great time! In the evening I had time to myself to wander around and I came across this cute cafe called ‘Dino’s.’ It can be found on  Salem Street and oh my goodness!  The food there was epic – as well as the staff. I had lobster ravioli. ..

And this made me giggle…

Alas, the night drew to an end with me collapsing on my bed which is what I am going to do now, so without further ado, I wish you all a very good night ~*

Boston… day one… ~*

Good evening friend’s!  As you know, I got off of the bus in Boston yesterday. “How’s Boston treating ya?” Some would ask and yesterday I would not know where to begin…

At first I was overwhelmed at just how huge everything was… and still is! And there was the shock of seeing a ton of people around – the camp was such a peaceful place where only the counselors and kids slept, so I had no idea how I felt about this whole transition from country to city life.

I was overjoyed to be staying with people I knew especially because I’m geographically challenged and did not have a clue where everything was at some points.

Anyways,  speaking of where stuff was, as soon as the bags were dumped, it was time to hit the real world… well, the tourist parts of it anyway. We hit the holocaust memorial thican and fast… and all I can say is that it hit deep…

The beginning of the memorial. ..

Below are 4-5 pillars of all of the branded people doomed to an unforgivable crime.

At this point. .. I musthave spent 5 minutes just astounded at what my eye’s were reading.

“My younger sister went up to a soldier with one of her friends. Standing naked, embracing each other, she asked to be spared. He looked into her eyes and shot the two of them. They fell together in their embrace – my sister and her young friend.”

Next on the agenda and on a slightly happier note,  was the freedom trail…

I have no idea why this focused on death so much, but here is the grave of Samuel Adams,  this guy was one of many that signed  the declaration of independence – found in the Kings Chapel Cemetery.

And while we’re at it, here’s a photo of John Hancocks grave thrown into the mix as well – also in the same graveyard.

Into the evening of that night, everyone that wanted to could meet at this bar called ‘Whiskeys.’ This was set up so that everyone could say goodbye and have a good time, here are some photos from that night…

(I’m the blonde one… just in case. )

Boston! ~*

I have arrived at the hostel in Boston people! With two friends, I entered the BOS hostel in Boston and the pictures will follow soon…
As you will see, the stairs to my room were… challenging to say the least! But me, my rucksack and my heart made it.
I am looking forward to this part of the journey so much!
Below is a photo of the stairs…

And here is my home for three nights, I’m on the bottom bunk 🙂

My last early evening… **

Good evening friend’s, this is but a quick post to update ya’ll before the final session of camp finishes.

I am now on my last week of teaching and I can truthfully say that I am super relaxed about life right now… My classes are not very big, which is cool since I prefer fewer students by means of being able to get around them all.

I am also in a new activity which helps my zen fulfil its purpose in life which is, Reading under the tree – Basically, I get a book and I go under the big tree… and I read for an hour with a bunch of campers. It may sound boring to some but once you have been teaching for a while, it is true bliss!

This summer has gone by sooooo fast, like, literally not even joking. I feel like first session was just yesterday and now I am getting myself ready to say goodbye to second session in almost under a week… I don’t know quite yet what to make of this but for now I’m just going with the flow…

Speak to ya’ll soon friend’s, stay extraordinary **
